Hello weekend! I’m so glad it is here! If you’re like me,  you’re often looking for fun events to enjoy with your family once the weekend rolls around. Here is my hand picked list of the best of the best happening in the Pioneer Valley… my own Pioneer Valley family fun events this weekend list! This weekend, we’ve got a few festivals, touch a truck and a free outdoor movie!

Pioneer Valley Family Fun Events This Weekend

Granby Charter Days, Granby MA 
6/10/16 – 6/12/16 l Time Varies

Time for a good old fashioned festival with a midway, tractor pulls, food, fishing derby, and fireworks! For the full schedule, head here! 

Hilltown Hoedown Spring Festival, Cummington, MA 
6/10/16 – 6/11/16 l 10:00 am – 8:00 PM l Cummington Fairgrounds

An action-packed two days of fun including: Crafters , Amusement Rides, Games for All Ages (including the first ever Western MA Cornhole Tournament), Pony Rides and a Petting Zoo, Live Country Music throughout the weekend, Truck Parade, Tractor Pull, Good old fashioned Burn Outs!  Food and a lot more. Admission: $8.00 Adults $4.00 Children 12 and under. Touch A Truck, Sunderland, MA 
6/11/16 l 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM l Sunderland Public Library

Stop by the library to get a hands on experience with fire trucks, police cars and ambulances. Rescue workers will also be there to interact with your children.  More info.

Kids Bike Safety Event Bike Rodeo, Greenfield MA 
6/11/16 l 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM l Greenfield Middle School

Greenfield Recreation, the Greenfield Bicycle Coalition, and Safe Routes to School are organizing a Bike Rodeo. Come learn how to safely navigate the streets while biking. Practice on our interactive course. The rodeo will include bike safety, helmet safety check, and more. A limited number of free bike helmets will be available. Best for kids K though 8th grade. E 1:00-2:00 PM K-4 & Less Experienced Riders 2:00-3:00 PM 4-8 Grade & Experienced Riders.

Cultural Chaos Street Festival, Easthampton, MA 
6/11/16 l 12:00 PM l Cottage St.

Cultural Chaos is a street festival with a twist in Easthampton, Massachusetts happening on June 11, 2016. This year, “Carnival” is the theme! Experience a full day of food, music, open studios, and performances highlighting the Cottage Street Cultural District. More info.

Doggie Fashion Show & Parade, Agawam, MA 
6/11/16 l 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM l Heritage Woods Senior Living Center

Heritage Woods Senior Living is excited to host its first annual “Pooch-A-Palooza” dog fashion show and parade on Saturday, June 11th from 1-3pm at 462 Main Street, Agawam. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, celebrity look alike, and most adorable. We will also offer pet photos, a 50/50 raffle, and refreshments. All are welcome to enjoy the show (for free) or enter their dogs in the contest for a $5 donation. A portion of the money raised will be donated to Dakin Humane Society. More info.

Fairy House and Fairy Wing Making Workshop, Athol, MA

Ring in the Midsummer holiday by creating an offering to share with the Fairies of your hearth and home! Come to Tintagels Gate and create a wee home for them to dwell. We have moss, acorns, tiles, beads, bark, pinecones, mirrors and glue guns. Or emulate the Fairy Realm by creating your own ‘gossamer’ wings. We will have sheer fabrics in many colors, ribbons, fabric paint, glitter, beads and wire frames. Houses start at $20, Wings start at $30 per pair. Stop in and create a spell! More Info.

Ghostbusters Free Outdoor Movie Night, Easthampton, MA

Warm weather shall be upon us soon – and with that comes outdoor movie nights at Millside Park! Join us June 11th for our first one of the year Ghostbusters, beginning around 8:45. This event is FREE, popcorn and softdrinks available for purchase. Bring a blanket and watch a movie under the stars. More info. 

Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast, Three Rivers, MA

All breakfasts include pancake(s), sausage link(s), and a drink! Milk, juice, coffee, tea and water will be available.  Maybe sit in a fire truck? Snap a few family photos by the gear? Stop on by!

Weekend Events: Worth The Road Trip

These are hand picked events from me for you. The criteria for selection is simple: these events are ones that I’d pop my family in the car and travel to!

Sensory Friendly Touch A Truck, Brattleboro, VT 
6/11/16 l 9:00 am – 1:00 pm l Brattleboro Memorial Hospital

Whether it is a fire truck, ambulance, dump truck, garbage truck, tree trimmer, paver, steamroller, tow truck or farm truck, they will all be at BMH from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A few non-trucks will also be present–motorcycles, a police cruiser and other eye-widening vehicles. The entire event is horn/siren free this year and the first 200 children will receive a free toy truck. $5 per child ages 2 – 12, $15 for families with more than 3 children, Under 2 free, Ages 13+ by donation. Civil War Reenactment, Windsor Locks, CT
