Wow! October is shaping up to be a busy month! If your kids are like mine, they are getting really pumped for Halloween! One of the great things about living in in the Pioneer Valley is that there are so many great Halloween events in Western MA for kids! Trick or Treat at Six Flags, Agawam, MA We’ve got the best trick-or-treating experience in town! Kids under age 12 can wear their Halloween costumes to the park and skip down our Trick or Treat Trail for a $1 donation to Six Flags Friends. On this unique path, young goblins get to collect candy from some fun characters, stop for fun photo opportunities, and find sweet surprises along the way. Weekends, 9/24-10/30

Pumpkin Glow/Calabaza Brillo, Holyoke, MA  Join us at Wistariahurst for an exhibition of over 100 pumpkins, hand carved by the community on view for this outdoor event as part of Next Stop Holyoke. Games and crafts will be made available and refreshments will be served!

• Time: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
• Cost: Free

Pumpkin Festival At Look Park, Northampton MA This event is great for little ones of all ages, it will take place in the field next to the train station parking lot. We will have many fun activities at the event including Bounce Houses, Carnival Games, Pumpkin Painting, and much more. We will also have balloon animals from 11am-2pm and Tom Knight’s puppet show at 1:30pm! The pumpkin festival is free to the public to enter, just pay vehicle entry and come see what all the fun is about. Tickets to the carnival games will be sold at the event (1) Ticket is only .50 cents and wristbands will be sold to do ALL the carnival games and unlimited train rides will be sold at $10. This is a day at the park you won’t want to miss!

BooFest, Greenfield, MA Come experience the 2nd Annual BooFest Halloween event for local children and families. All ages welcome! Enjoy face painting, halloween crafts, trick or treating, costume parade with prizes, a special treat bag, event program and special offers from local vendors. Don’t forget to bring your camera – Daniel Tiger will be stopping by to meet the children. Each child will be able to meet Daniel Tiger and pose for a Halloween themed photo.

6th Annual Harvest Festival at Nonotuck Park, Easthampton, MA Dan Kane and Friends concert, pumpkin carving station and contest, pie eating contest, horse drawn wagon rides, food, drink, a bonfire and more.

Enchanted Forest: A Non-Scary Halloween Event, Amherst, MA The Hitchcock Center’s annual magical treat along pumpkin lit trails. We’ve just built a new living building and we’ve invited our animal friends to join us and share how they build along the theme, Creatures That Build. From a bird’s nest to a Caddis Fly’s case to the engineering of a Beaver dam, colorful characters will share details about their lives and how they build through short skits. Inside we’ll have crafts and activities. Open to all ages – this is a non-scary event.

Spooky Safari at the Zoo at Forest Park, Springfield MA

The Zoo will be hosting spooky safari Saturday night from 6 – 9. Spooky safari is safe trick or treating for children, we have a fun, educational game tent, we have arts & crafts, a costume parade followed with a costume contest! All the kids…and adults love this exciting event! 100% of the profit goes back into the Zoo to assist with animal care.

Chicopee Halloween Spooktactular, Chicopee, MA Join us for a Halloween preview in Chicopee’s Downtown! Local Businesses will be handing out candy for our annual costume walk.

Holyoke Fire Department Halloween Party & Touch A Truck – Join the Holyoke Fire Department and friends for a costume party and touch a truck event! Trick or Treat with local organizations! There will be performances  and demonstrations from a karate club and magician plus vehicles from the Holyoke Fire Department, Holyoke Police Department, Holyoke Gas & Electric, the Navy, Red Cross, State Police and more. Franklin County Pumpkin Fest, Turners Falls The event will include children’s activities, pumpkin carving, lantern making, live music and entertainment, food vendors and much more. Guests are encouraged to bring carved and painted pumpkins. They can be brought starting at 10am in front of St. Kaz on Avenue A. The other pumpkin station, located on 2nd St, opens at 12pm. Free shuttle from Turners Falls High School and Sheffield School.

RT 9 (Main St) Will be closed at this time for the parade to march to the Florence Civic & Business Center where kids can pick up a goody bag.
