My favorite football team is headed to the Big Game! It is good time to live in New England!

I thought it would be fun to celebrate with a recipe. Pickle wrap dip is a crowd pleaser and an unexpected twist on traditional on a crudite platter. Pickle Wrap Dip takes the work out of traditional pickle wraps or pickle roll ups by combining all of the flavors into a tasty dip!

I found everything I needed to make my big game day crudite with pickle wrap dip at Big Y in Northampton. While I was there, I was stopped three different times by employees who asked if I needed help finding anything. I didn’t, because it was my home store. But, it is still nice to be asked!

Big YI grew up eating pickle wraps. They were present at almost every family gathering and holiday. Pickle wraps are simple to make, but time intensive. The ingredients for pickle wraps are simple- ham, cream cheese, and pickles. But they are time consuming to make because you have to spread the cream cheese on the ham, roll it up, and slice.

Pickle wrap dip on the other hand, takes no time at all!

Pickle Wrap Dip

First, chop your ham.

Next, dice your pickles. You want your pickle pieces for your pickle wrap dip to be bigger than the pieces you’d find in pickle relish but smaller than a pickle chip. It will depend on the size of pickles you use. (I used Claussen Mini Dill Pickles and quartered them).

Then, combine your pickles and ham in a bowl with sour cream, cream cheese, parsley, and onion flakes. Refrigerate well before serving.

I served my pickle wrap dip with baby carrots, cucumbers, pepper slices, and bagel slices. One of my favorite (not so) secrets about Big Y is they’ll slice their bakery bagels into chips for you, if you’d like them to- just ask them at the bakery counter.

Pickle Wrap Dip combines the flavors of ham and pickle wraps (also called ham and pickle roll ups). You get all of the flavor without the hassle of making the pickle wraps!

While I was at Big Y, I also picked up a 30 inch grinder at the Pizza & Sub Shop. Football + grinders = two of my husband’s favorite things on earth!

big y sandwich

This sub (grinder, hoagie, sandwich) is part a Party Power Pack that includes 4 lbs of chicken tenders, 2 super subs, and 1 one topping pizza ($60.00). If that is too much food for your crew, they also have a Party Special that includes a party size cheese pizza, 12 super tenders, one liter bottle of coke. ($24.98 with silver coin).  Either choice would be a great way to take a lot of the guess work out of what to feed a crowd on Big Game Day!

The Northampton Big Y also has a Table & Vine in their store, complete with a great beer and wine section.

I didn’t end up picking up anything, but I thought this mix and match of single bottles of craft beer was super fun- especially for hosting a big game day party!

Are you hosting a big game day party? What are your favorite game day foods?

I have never heard of a pickle wrap but now that I have, I want one!! We probably won’t watch the SuperBowl this weekend because…I don’t know, we’re not a sport family but I’d make this dip!! (Did you know there is a Big Y near me, too, all the way down here in Fairfield County, CT? There is!)
