I wish that I had something brilliant and beautiful to share with you today. But my head and heart are going a million directions. Nothing really feels succinct. So I’m going to take a cue from my good friend Shrek who wisely said “better out than in, that’s what I always say.” You have my apologies for the randomness of this post.
Topic 1- Family Drama.
Every family who loves each other has some. And families who don’t love each other probably have even more. For the most part, I stay out it because I live in a different area code. But recently someone’s actions caused me to almost hit below the belt. Instead, I’ve decided to stay as far away from the crazy train as I can. Mostly because there are people who are in the same area code who can handle the situation better. I’m looking at you, Uncles (who I feel are kind of more like brothers to me…).
Topic 2- Christmas Music.
The more I hear it, the more I’m pretty sure “Baby It’s Cold Outside” is a song about date rape. For the love of all things holy, girlfriend you are right. Your date has slipped a ruffie in your drink. Stop singing and wondering about it and call yourself a cab. And that fire he’s singing about? It isn’t romantic. It will probably be used to burn the evidence. Your parents are worried. Put on your boots and get the heck out of there ASAP.
Topic 3-Work
I don’t miss it the way I thought I would. I do, however miss my work friends. I miss them A LOT. But, getting laid off is one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time. We are all happier because I am able to be home with Malone during this time.
Topic 4- Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Joe Joe’s.
I want to do sinful things to these like dip them in chocolate and THEN eat them. Or crush them and put them on top of ice cream. Holy moly are these things yummy. If your store has any left, you should get some. I know my store is out because I got some of the last packages. But don’t worry friends and family. I’ve got something special in mind for you unless I eat them all first.
Topic 5- Blogging
Is there anyway to break the feeling of everyone is already best friends in blog land? I read several blogs and just recently made the connection that they are all either friends in real life, or friends via the web. The reasons why I enjoy them all make total sense now. They all have interests similar to mine. How does one make a blog friend without feeling like a creeper?
I don’t have the answers to anything today. If you stuck with me this far, you deserve a gold medal. Or a Candy Cane Joe Joe dipped in chocolate.
I’m linking up today with Shell’s Things I Can’t Say. Hopefully next week I’ll have something more epic to write about. But I do feel better. So thanks!

LOL @ Baby it’s cold outside!
We do not have a trader joe’s near us. 🙁
Yes- there is a way to break that- just join in! don’t wait for people to invite you along for this bloggy ride- they might not realize you want or feel like you need that invite- just jump in and be a part of it by commenting/fbing/tweeting with people!

I’ll try to be more outgoing! I can’t believe you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you! You are seriously missing out on some of the best stuff on earth!
LOL your “Baby It’s Cold Outside” bit had me laughing out loud!

I am so glad! It makes me wonder what other “old” songs have terrible meanings. I’ll have to listen a little more carefully!
Oh yeah, sometimes it does feel like everybody knows everybody or there’s this mysterious blogging “circle” that you’re standing just outside of. But I agree with Shell! Just jump in and say hi! The more you interact, the more you’ll feel a part of things. 🙂
Thanks! It is weird because I know in my head that there isn’t a “circle” but sometimes my heart feels that way!
Topic 2, for real?? I’m totally going to listen to that right now!

I’m pretty sure.. if you listen closely it’s a pretty creepy anthem…
No Trader Joe’s here, either. I have to drive about 1 1/2 hours to find one.
Crazymakers in the family. Oh, that’s not fun. I’m glad you have Uncles to be on the front line. 🙂
I agree with Shell-jump in! Share other blogger’s work on your social networks, ask questions, leave thoughtful comments. I felt just like you a year ago, and did just as Shell advised here. I have built relationships with wonderful gals because of it.

Trader Joe’s is worth the drive! Have you been before? Ours isn’t in a really convenient spot. It takes about 25 minutes to get there. I’m going to jump in and try to get to know people more. I’m considering going to a conference too, which I think would help!
We drive 45 minutes to TJ and now I may have to do it for these peppermint joe-joes.
I feel the same way about the blog world. I have trouble jumping in socially in the real world and online. I think it also takes time and with time comes the friendships. Comment, share and follow are the best way to get to know other bloggers.
Thanks! Blogging is something that is still new for me. I need to remember that it does take time, just like everything else does!
You know, I’ve thought the same thing about that Christmas song! She needs to get home to her mamma!
Don’t know what to say about blogland friends… I don’t know any of mine in real life — hope they don’t think I’m a creep for checking them out all the time! LOL
It makes me wonder what the heck the writers were thinking. Was it really meant to be so innocent? Making blog friends is tough, but I know I’ll get there.
Sometimes the random posts are the most cathartic and the ones readers most connect with… I know I went, “Oh Yeah” several times reading.
I never thought about that song… I’m sure it will come up on Pandora today. Good point!
I understand your feeling on #5. Blogging friendships take time and because I blog anonymously and no one IRL knows I have a blog I can’t got to conferences and such, which limits the connections I make. There are some circles and people I wish I could reach out to, but I can’t… That said, over time, friendships do form. There is one person who has always known and lives nearby and Shell and I have met. In fact, I do have a TJ’s, so maybe I’ll snag some for her although it could be months before I get them to her!
Thanks Single Mom! It was a brain dump for sure, but it felt so great to get out. I hope that song comes up soon on Pandora. You’ll never think about it the same way again! I really want to go to a conference. I have my eye on a few for 2013- if only the budget was unlimited. It must be tricky to be anonymous. I’m looking forward to making more blog friends. I just have remember that it does take time!
I have to drive about 25 minutes to a TJ. Totally worth it, especially if I’m alone when I go. LOL
The best way to make blog friends is to comment, comment, comment and don’t be afraid to link to blog posts you really enjoy. Some bloggers do weekly link round-ups of posts they’ve really enjoyed recently.

You are right. I need to comment more! Trader Joes with out kids- what a treat!
Totally get you on the creeper comment about other bloggers. There is one other blogger I know in real life, but we don’t know each other well. I started to read the blogs she reads because I also connect with what they are writing and it’s nice to find other local people, but now I feel like she might think I am following all her friends. Jeez, I feel like I am 12 years old trying to make friends or break into a particular clique.
