I live and breathe community. There are few things I love on earth more than being with my people. And my kids? They’ve been learning how to be in and love their communities since they were little bitties.

We moved here almost seven years ago. It was meant to be a temporary stop for a few years before we bought a home in a neighboring town. I never expected to fall in love with my city, but I have. Really and truly.

Our town is piloting a dual language school. Each year, they are adding a grade to the program- starting with Malone’s class (he started here last year in Kindergarten). This school is a Spanish immersion program where half of the day is taught in English and the other half is taught in Spanish. Malone is an academically gifted child so having part of his day in a second language has really challenged him.

The dual language school really serves our community, where over half of the population is a native Spanish speaker. It gives children who have English as their first language a chance to really learn Spanish and it gives Spanish speaking children a chance to learn in their native language. The school celebrates the heritage and diversity of all students enrolled and is all around amazing.

Since the school is just starting out, it needs so much to get up and running. From decor for the classrooms to classroom furniture and curriculum Malone’s school needs it all!

Tyson® has a great program to help schools earn money for the things they need called Tyson Project A+™. The program is really simple and easy to participate in.

Step 1. Clip the labels from participating Tyson® products like Tyson® Fun Nuggets, Tyson® Chicken Nuggets, Tyson® Crispy Chicken Strips, Tyson® Any’Tizers, and Tyson® Grilled & Ready (as well as other participating products, look for the label!). We always find these great Tyson® products at Walmart!

Step 2. Turn the labels into your school where your school’s coordinator will mail them off to Tyson®. For every label submitted, Tyson® sends $0.24 back to your school to use as it needs.

Right now, you can head to walmart.com/TysonProjectAPlus and nominate your favorite school to win $1000.00 worth of Tyson Project A+™ labels. 5 schools with the most votes will win!

Because Malone’s school currently in the preschool school building in our town, it wasn’t eligible for this nomination. So, I nominated our neighborhood school. It’s is a great school, but doesn’t have a playground for the kids! Instead, the teachers have to drag toys outside during recess. $1000.00 would go a really long way to start a playground fund and they’ve got an amazing PTO who would carry the project through to completion!
