This post today is brought to you by the folks at the One Day App. All opinions are my own.
I’ve written before about how I’m a correspondence hoarder. I also hoard voicemails from the people I love. I have one from Mike’s grandmother who called the day Lola was born. She left the most beautiful message welcoming Lola to this world.
“Welcome sweet baby girl, I’ve waited over sixty years for you. I am SO GLAD you’re here and a part of my legacy. Welcome welcome, Lola.”
I have hours and hours worth of video and audio recordings of my kids. One of my favorite things to do is to secretly pull out my phone and hit the audio record button. I love hearing Malone’s toddler voice talking with Daddy during a bath or listening to him sing quietly in his room while he plays with his cars.
The lines from Trace Atkin’s song You’re Gonna Miss This kill me every time.
You’re gonna miss this
You’re gonna want this back
You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast
These Are Some Good Times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you’re gonna miss this
Mostly because I know he’s right. These days are hard and sweet and glorious all at the same time. And I know that when my babies are grown, I’m going to miss these days. I’m going to miss their sweet voices (OMG! Malone will have a deep voice someday!) and the way they mispronounce words. I’m going to miss their innocent take on how the world works.
Which is why I’m over the moon with the One Day App for iPhone. One Day is a video recording app that provides prompts for you to ask your kids a question. Then, they string it together with professional editing and music to provide you with the sweetest little video you’ve ever seen. You can stitch together individual questions (up to 10) to make a movie.
Currently this app is free but that is going to change in the near future. You can download it in iTunes here.
To celebrate their recent launch, the folks at One Day are hosting a special giveaway! They’re giving away a $500.00 Target gift card!
I feel the same way about, as you say, hoarding memories. Our children grow up so fast and even their voices change so many times. When we lose people we love, we long to hear their voices again. This app sounds like a wonderful tool. Thanks for sharing the info, and reminding us to hoard our memories!

I love it! I definitely downloaded the app before I even finished reading this. Now to get the kids home from school so I can interview them!
