Influential Women Meet Up

Today I’m participating a bit of a blog fiesta via the Influence Network. I joined this network of Christian Women last month and today we’re all sharing little bits about ourselves in our space. I’m supposed to share a photo of myself that I love, 3 get to know me things, and one valuable thing I’ve gained through the network.

Here goes!

9 Week BumpThat’s me in the stripey dress with a 9 week baby bump surrounded by friends.  This photo was taken by my dear friend Paul Specht who is an amazing professional photographer and one of the funniest guys I know.

3 Things About Me.

1. I live in Western, MA with my husband Mike (whom I met online) and preschool son, Malone (yeah.. we named him after Sam Malone from Cheers because we’re awesome). We are adding to our team with 2.0 who is should be making an appearance in late August. Despite living so far from blood family, we have the greatest family of friends we could ask for. Our friends are made up of Mike’s college roommates and my baby mamas (I met a bunch of moms who had a child right around the same time I had Malone).  They are 3:00 am friends if you know what I mean.

2. Recently realized that one of my greatest gifts is that of being a “connector.” I take great joy in helping people find what or whom they need in a sometimes out of the box way. I’m also a really good planner. I can “see” how one step or action will affect the next three or four down the line. This gift is best used these days when we need to pack the car for a road trip.

3. I LOVE rainbows, chevron, stripes, and patchwork. If I can combine rainbows with one of the other three, be still my heart! We have a vintage rainbow patchwork quilt on our bed, 1/2 of my family’s wardrobe is stripes, and I am thrilled that chevron is making it’s way into clothing options. I plan to rock a chevron maternity dress this spring. Oooooh yeah.

Last month when I lost my voice and was desperate to find it again, I joined The Influence Network on a whim and I am so glad I did! The thing that I love about the network is that these are real Christian woman who are getting down and dirty with each other sharing pieces of their real world. Everyone is super supportive and I know that no question or idea is too dumb to ask there. It has been great for me to connect with other Christian women who are blogging in the mainstream.

  1. nj – you should chat with Ginger @ Give Today (she’s #7 on the linkup), because she also wrote that she’s a connector. What a cool gift God has blessed you both with.

  2. I am so a people connector too :) And I love being one! So fun that you have baby number 2 on the way! My first is coming soon (7ish weeks) and I’m so excited!!

  4. So great to meet you!! So glad you are finding your voice again. It is so so good.

    • Thank you! It has been a process but it IS coming back. Since I found it again, I wrote 4 posts that I’m super proud of!

  5. Love that your blog name is a cookie before dinner! When I was a camp counselor, I’d let my campers eat dessert before regular food because there moms weren’t there :) I suppose I should let me own girls do that every now and then!

Love that you named your son Malone!!

    • You were probably the best camp counselor EVER! It doesn’t happen often, but a cookie before dinner never hurt anyone!

  6. Here from the link-up. It was your blog name that brought me here. I love it! I break the parenting rules too :)

  7. I love chevron! I’m a connector too. I’ve spent a lot of time over the years building my community on twitter and I’ve been able to bring a lot of people that wouldn’t have met otherwise!

  8. I also totally love that I can ask whatever question I have, or if I have one, chances are it’s already been asked! I thought I would be intimidated, but on the forums, I simply feel welcome to share my heart!
We share some gifts girl! I’m definitely a connector and I’m very strategic. I’m still learning how to weave strategy into my blog, but when it comes to figuring out situations, I can always spot the holes that need to be filled, simply by dreaming ahead.
Can’t wait to get to know you more.

  9. So nice to meet you! I need a 3:00 a.m. friend -as I’m quite the night owl. No 3:00 a.m. feedings yet for me, but I’m game for when it happens!
