Its Monday again which means it is time to link up with the lovely Lisa Leonard. These pictures this week are all from my Iphone camera. I uploaded them to link up to InstaFriday and then my computer crashed. I’ve decided they are too wonderful not to share!
Hello Holiday Season! Malone’s excitement for Christmas and Hanukkah is contagious. I’m not sure which he is looking forward to more- lighting our menorah or Santa coming. His holiday crafting is out in full force. It is safe to say that we’re all excited. Now, if only the weather would cooperate. Tomorrow it is supposed to be sixty degrees!
Hello Elf! We are doing our own version of the popular Elf on the Shelf. We have a vintage elf from my mother in law. Our elf is purely fun and he doesn’t report back to Santa. He home base is in a “Christmas sock” as Malone calls it (the rest of us would call it a stocking). However each night our little elf friend seems to move to a new spot, sometimes causing a little mischief on the way. Malone wakes up every morning very excited to see where the elf has gone. He has even left a little mail to him. Our elf is an excellent pen pal and has even left a gift or two in return. The picture quality on this one isn’t super great, but here is our elf hanging from the ceiling fan.
Hello Christmas Tree. These ornaments are so special to us. They were made by my Aunt Nancy who passed away this fall. She made handmade ornaments for her kids and their family every year starting around the mid 1980’s. My cousins have decades worth on their trees. We were in IL in 2009 for for Malone’s first Christmas and she made these for us that year.
Hello Christmas Lights! We live near the birthplace of Theodore Geisel aka Dr. Seuss. One of the parks in town puts on a huge holiday display which included Seussland and many of the famous Dr. Seuss characters.
But this one was my favorite of the whole night. I adore the reflection in the frog pond!
Hello tea time! While were were all together in Philadelphia for Thanksgiving, we took tea together everyday around 3:00 pm. It was so sweet to see all of our mugs lined up. The boys had hot chocolate in their Spiderman mugs.
Hello homesick. After spending so much time together over the Thanksgiving holiday it has been hard not to miss my nephew and in laws. Malone and Andrew are six months a part and I miss seeing their sweet interactions. I’m counting down the time until we can be together again. I wish we didn’t all live so far apart!
What are you saying hello to this week?
Like the elf idea–may have to use that too.

Thanks! It just sort of evolved into its own thing! Feel free to steal it. We were lucky that my mother in law had an amazing vintage elf (who is adorable)!
My cousins have daughters and sons the same age as my children and while they only see each other once every year or so, there is that 10 minutes of shyness and then they are all like peas in a pod. It’s neat because they are brothers and one has daughters and the other sons, so my one of each bridges the gap. I do miss it after we’ve seen them, but I”m not moving back! 🙂

We’re about five hours from my nephew. So with a little intention a weekend trip CAN be pulled of. They just don’t get to see each other as often as I’d like. I grew up with cousins in the same area code but I’m learning to let go of the fact that we’re all happy with the areas that we live in so there isn’t much that can be done. Its great that your family can just pick right up! Ours is the same way- like we’ve always been in the same space together.
That is often the trouble with holidays- they are so much fun and so great to see the family that is far away but it makes me miss them that much more when it is time to go. I like how you do your elf- just for fun.
Our elf is super fun! We’re having a blast with him!
I like your approach to the elf. I was just telling a friend that I’d never do it because it seems super creepy to have someone watch you all the time, then tattle on you! Your way is much better and not creepy at all. This week, I am saying hello to holiday decorating and getting my house in order for a chanukah get-together on Sunday.
