This weekend Malone and I went to Big Adventures in Westfield, MA. This has been one of his favorite spots for several years and he happily played there for most of the afternoon. I happily read my book while he did so. Bonus!

Big Adventures in Westfield, MA is the kind of place that I have a love hate relationship with. If you’ve never heard of it before, it is a 3 story indoor adventure playground. It is full of indoor slides, tubes to climb through, cargo nets and ball pits. They also have a bounce house, an arcade, a small food court and a toddler area.

The toddler area is just right for little ones 4 and under (who area also welcome to use the main play equipment).

Big Adventures Westfield Toddler Area is a great indoor playspace in MA. The seating at the cafe area offers a great view of some of the different levels of the play structure!

Big Adventures Westfield MAYou can upgrade your ticket to access the unlimited bounce house.

Big Adventures Westfield MA Bounce HouseThe arcade has a lot of games to choose from and play, but several were also out of order.

Big Adventures Westfield ArcadeThings I love about Big Adventures Westfield:

  • They offer free wifi.
  • They have a “controlled” security system. When you check in, both you and your child are given wrist band with matching numbers. In order to get your shoes back to leave, both parties have to be present and show that they match up.
  • They have great little tables and nooks to sit at while your child plays.
  • The temperature inside is always just about perfect. Heating and cooling a three story mill building is tricky. We’ve been in the dead of winter and the height of summer, and in both cases the building was very pleasant.
  • It is a great place to let a kid burn off a ton of energy.
  • The price is right- if you wanted to stay all day, you could. Also, we’ve always brought in our own water and snacks without it being an issue.

Big Adventures Westfield MA 3Things I don’t love about Big Adventures:

  • The germ factor. Their website says they use a state of the art sanitizing system twice a week.  And I will say that we’ve never gotten a cold immediately after we’ve been there, but still…
  • A lot of the arcade games were broken.
  • The bathrooms were clean, but the door to my stall didn’t lock (or have a lock). They need to be updated.
  • There are some areas that have been very well used and still function, but could be replaced or updated.

Big Adventures Westfield MA 5With all that being said, we like it here. Big Adventures is what it is- which is a large scale indoor playground that is no longer brand new (or even new for that matter). And for the price, you really can’t beat it.
